Pat Crepeau
Pat Crepeau, founder/owner – background biography:
o Born in Washington, D.C. Grew up in northern New Jersey until the middle of eighth grade, then junior
and senior high school in Bethesda, Maryland.
o College at the University of Maryland in College Park. Graduated with a B.S. in economics, 1974.
o Worked at the Smithsonian Institution for a year and a half - first as a library technician/team leader,
then as a clerk-typist with the Museum of History and Technology renovation project.
o Then, worked at the U.S. Dept. of Labor for the next 34 years. In 2010, received what may have been
a wrongful dismissal.
o Graduate work at American University in the evenings. Certificate in applied economics, 1997.
o Went part-time in 1989 in order to pursue various volunteer and business opportunities:
· Listener, Northern Virginia Hotline
· Listener, Victim Assistance Network
· An early volunteer with Dr. Steven Stosny, effective treatment for domestic abuse
· Various other volunteer work – coached learning-disabled kids in soccer; worked at the Northern
Virginia Training Center and also took residents to a few special events; with Muriel Grim,
coordinated the Bike Project, in Burke Centre; collected books at the community yard sale for
the Friends of the Burke Centre Library; did some Habitat for Humanity work, in D.C.; was able
to donate a Liberty Elm to Arlington Cemetery

o Entwhistle, a children’s fantasy novel, won 3rd place in children’s fiction, National Federation of Press
Women (NFPW) Communications Contest, 2009
o Green Grows My Love, a romance, received an honorable mention, in adult fiction, Virginia Press Women
(VPW), 2011
o Founder/owner, the Catalyst Consortium, a business incubator focused on small business development –
by small, think “micro” – inspired by the shining example of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, but without the
microfinance. Here, we stay out of debt, and we bootstrap.
